Emilee Beth Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to Emilee Beth Photography!

Did you know there are approximately 150 babies born in the world every minute?  Capturing that one and only first moment as a baby arrives into the world is my true passion.  To watch that first breath, that first cry, and that first connection between parent and child is truly an honor.

You are likely to find me capturing those "firsts" during my spare time.  Although I am a Registered Nurse by calling, I am a photographer by passion.  I enjoy taking every opportunity I can to use my creative instincts to relax and unwind from the daily grind.

I love photography because it allows me to blend my classic New England heritage with my relaxed, Southern way of life.  When I am not in the delivery room, I am helping to create memories of families, small children, newborns, couples and even bridal portraits.  There is something about a beautiful, blushing bride - well, at least that is what my Husband tells me!

I am glad you found me here, and I hope you will come back often!

Welcome to the World Travis! {Raleigh Birth Photographer}

Nothing excites me more than being able to capture a truly remarkable event – the birth of a child.

Travis joined the world in an un-medicated birth early Tuesday morning becoming the 5th child to a pair of awesome parents – Kim & John!
It was truly a pleasure meeting them and I am looking forward to getting to know them even better!

You’ll be seeing more of Travis in the next week, but for now feast your eyes on the details of the night (and afternoon after) he was born!

Snow on the ground at Rex that night…Nugent Birth 1

 Nugent Birth 2

Kim getting hooked up to all the monitors by her nurse – Vicky, who was AMAZING!
Nugent Birth 3

Kim & John planned well for lots of activities to keep their other children happy during the wait:
Nugent Birth 4

Simon made a paper airplane with a message for his Mom on the inside…
Nugent Birth 5

which she promptly gave to Dr Alvarez from Atrium OBGYN to see if it would help move things along!
Nugent Birth 6

Travis didn’t quite make it by midnight on the First, he arrived a few hours into the Second day of February…
Nugent Birth 7

Right off the bat he has his team loyalties set up =)
Nugent Birth 8

It is his parents team loyalties that I am worried about, so I had to do some creative photo-shopping to this photo to “fix” John’s hat – strangely it originally had some weird NY logo on it…
We think it looks much better now =)
Nugent Birth 9

Really? That Big!?!?!? {Raleigh Photographer}

I often get asked after I’ve posted many of my sessions whether I think people should get a canvas or a wall portrait -
my answer is always a RESOUNDING, BIG FAT – YES!!!!
Did you know that an 8×10 is not considered a Wall Portrait?
Really! It’s not.  It is considered a desk print.
I’ve been looking for the perfect way to really show this – visually and today, I stumbled on fellow photographer – Amy Ro who has done this just perfectly!

For Example – Amy set up this display on her average sized mantle -

amyro.com

Would you be surprised to know that is an 11×14?

Read more about sizing your wall portraits on Amy’s Blog!  The link is HUGELY informative!!!

I know being a New England Girl myself, I have lots of followers in her area – she lives in Rhode Island!  Be sure to check her out if you are looking for a photographer in that area!  I am truly wowed by her!!!

{Jackson} Growing Up! Wake Forest Children’s Photographer

What a beautiful day today was!  It is finally starting to thaw after the big freeze we have been in here in NC!  However, I think even if it had still been 18 degrees out, I would have melted as soon as I saw Jackson and his big blue eyes today anyway =)  How awesome is it that I get to spend my days capturing these little moments of a time that will soon be gone, but because of photography, never forgotten?

The last time we saw Jackson he was only 3 months old and although he has never been a “little” baby… he was so little compared to now at 6 months!  WOW! Wow! Wow!  What a big boy… sitting up, smiling, laughing, and loving anything “techy” he could get his hands on!

Without further adieu…. Jackson at 6 months =)

I love this one….

www.emileebeth.com JP (4)

Thanks to the “P” Family for having me into your home today to capture this milestone!  Can’t wait to see you again in 3 months =)

Debbie Sparks - Oh, Jackson has gotten so big. He's such a cutie. I love the black and white side pose.

Angie Sims - I love the last pic. He looks like an angel.

Tommye Morrison - Jackson just gets cuter by the day. I think my favorite this time is the first one in black and white and he's looking up at the camera. Although that's tough to say, because black and white doesn't capture those amazing blue eyes.

Brent - Great pictures! While cute either way, Daddy thinks he definitely looks best in the red! ;)

Brenda and Jack Arnold - Thanks for sharing!!!! Keep em coming. Jackson is adorable. Aunt Brenda

Sue Neil Raynor - The pictures of Jackson are great! He is precious and has grown so much.

Donna Propst - What a handsome little man you are Jackson. "Grammy" loves the new pictures of you. You are so precious and those blue eyes capture my heart everytime I see them. Emilee, you did a great job as always, can't wait to see the rest of them!

Lauren Parrish - What a sweetie! Love those big blue eyes!

Larry Propst - Jackson you are growing up so fast and changing everyday. Grandpa loves the new pictures and can't wait to see the rest.

Bob & Faye McLaughlin - Nana & Pop love the new pictures. He is cute as a button and we love his blue eyes! He will have all the girls chasing him one day!

Donna Propst - What a handsome little man you are Jackson. "Grammy" just loves the new pictures. So precious and those blue eyes capture my heart everytime I see them. Emilee, you did a great job as always, can't wait to see the rest of the pictures!

Eddie Pelletier - Great pictures. He is growing up so fast ....... Granddaddy

Peggy Pelletier - Grandmama just loves the pictures. Makes me want to head to Raleigh so I can hold him.

Mary Beth - He's absolutely adorable! What gorgeous pictures!

(Savannah) Growing Up! Raleigh Children’s Photographer

Today I did a quick session to celebrate Savannah’s First Birthday!!!  I absolutely cannot believe where the time has gone!
I know it must have been just the other day that I was lucky enough to be present for her birth and capture all of her first moments in this world….
www.emileebeth.com (birth)

From that itty bitty baby to this bright and happy little girl all in one year – WOW!!!
www.emileebeth.com (6)

She is so mobile – crawling faster than lightning and even taking  some independent steps!www.emileebeth.com (10)

I had to include this one of Gizmo who just couldn’t pass up a turn for a photograph!
www.emileebeth.com (2)

We ended the session with a cake smash – Savannah was a little timid around all of the sweetness, but by the end we had quite a mess =)
www.emileebeth.com (16)

It has been such a joy watching Savannah grow this year!  I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for her!!!

Beth Anne - Em, you captured the essence of Savannah - dainty, happy, & incredibly FUN! Beautiful work.

Sarah Brown - Beautiful as always!! Savannah is such a gorgeous little girl and certainly knows how to strut her stuff in front of the camera.

Lauren Parrish - Love the pictures!! What a sweetheart!

Meredith - I LOVE them! Em, you have done an AMAZING job capturing our little girl in her first year ... I cannot tell you how much I appreciate what you have done for us!

(Harper) Growing Up! Raleigh Kids & Family Photographer

These kind of accessories can only mean one things folks….
G-(26)

You guessed it!  Miss Harper is back =)

It was fitting today to have both a first and last with Miss Harper’s session today… My last session of 2009 and my first with my new camera!!!  The pictures I took of Harper as a newborn (and actually of her Mom & Dad while she was still in the belly) were the images that finally gave me the courage to venture out and start this business so it is only fitting that the year of Emilee Beth Photography started with her and ends with her too!!

Can you believe that she is 9+ months already!!!  Gosh, where has the time gone???

Harper gets A LOT of flack for her seriousness, so she has a message for all her “haters” (j/k no one could really hate this sweet girl!!)
G-(4)

Hee Hee… This shirt was too perfect!!!

I can just hear her thoughts, can’t you…. “Oh, Ella… I don’t know about this….”
G-(11)

This is her comfort technique…. Her “happy place”…
G-(6)

We braved the cold for a few frames, but heck; she could brave the cold in Russia in this hat!!!
G-(20)

G-(18)

We went back in for a few final shots…
G-(22)

Hey Pretty Girl….
G-(23)

This was Sarah’s idea and of course I love it…. One of my lockets….
G-(28)

One last image… You will probably see immediately that this is not my “usual style” of photos, but Sarah has a photo of her around the same age as Harper and she is wearing a very similar dress and we tried to duplicate the photo… I think we did a pretty good job!!!
G-(16)

It was a wonderful afternoon with one of my favorite little girls =)

Happy and safe New Years to you all!!

Loren - The picture of Harper and Ella is award worthy!!!! all the pictures are beautiful Emiliee- gosh I'm so happy for you!

Alison - Beautiful pictures of a beautiful little girl!

Lauren Parrish - I lovelovelove them all!!! such incredible pictures!

Ashley Pennell - How ADORABLE! I love the one of Harper and Ella...so precious!

Kristen - The shot of Harper & Ella is perfection! Harper has the best wardrobe! Love the locket shot - and I love my Emilee Beth locket as well. :)

Sarah Brown - You have all the talent in the world. You are an amazing photographer and I wouldn't have anyone else in the world be my family's personal photographer. I get so excited with every picture you take. They are all magical.

Wendy - She looks just like her Grandpa!!!! Love her serious faces...keep up the great work- Wendy

Merry Christmas!

I can’t help but think back over this year and be so thankful for everyone who contributed to making Emilee Beth Photography so successful!  I have met so many wonderful people and experienced so many amazing moments….

I hope you are able to enjoy this season with your loved ones.  See you next year =)

Here is Michael and I picking out our tree during our trip to Asheville and the Mountains…. It was quite a search, but we think we found the perfect tree!

Family Ties! (The Earles Family) – Raleigh Family Photographer -

So I was going to finish the Earles Family post tomorrow, but after finishing their gallery; I just couldn’t wait =)

Meet Tim, Shae and Emily…

If you ever have to experience a true emergency, I would only hope you could be lucky enough to have these two be involved in taking care of you.  Tim is the sharpest Paramedic I know and Shae is not only a Paramedic, but a fellow ER Nurse.   They epitomize the calm in the storm.  They have both taught me a lot as a nurse and I am lucky to call them both my friend.

We met up last Monday and I sent Shae a text message when I was on my way to meet them – here is what it said:
“the tv said temp is 31 and feels like 26″

So when I say we braved the cold…. I mean we REALLY braved the cold!  Looking over these frames, it doesn’t really look so bad (as I type from the warmth of my office)… Little Emily was like a personal oven – I think the only part of her that ever showed being cold was her little red nose =)  Surprisingly we had a blast and we were out for a few hours!!!

So without further adieu… here are my friends – The Earles Family =)

www.emileebeth.com EF c2009 (57)

If you need to know what a guy who is head over heels in love with his wife and daughter looks like – Tim, is your man!!

Family Ties! (The S Family) {Raleigh Family Photographer}

Just before we left for vacation, I met up with The “S Family” for some family pictures!  We braved the cold (been doing that a lot lately, when not getting cancelled on by the rain!!!), thankfully we kept on the move enough that it wasn’t too bad!
We were supposed to also do some Bridal Portraits for Beth, since she didn’t have a chance to get them done before they got married last month, we bailed on that part due to the low temps though…. Quite a substitution I’d say - a sleeveless gown for warm sweaters – I think it was a wise choice!!!
